A Corpus driven comparative analysis for Major Themes in UNGA Speeches of Imran Khan and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto
This study examines the most commonly used terms in speeches given to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by two well-known Pakistani leaders, Imran Khan and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave a historic speech on December 15, 1971, and Imran Khan gave two noteworthy speeches on September 27, 2019, and September 25, 2020. Examining the linguistic patterns and recurrent themes in these speeches is the main goal of this study. The speeches were converted into plain text and examined for word frequency and concordance using Anthoney's AntConc software. The results highlight important topics like India, the RSS, Kashmir, Islamophobia, climate change, and the predicament of Muslims in Bengal. They also show both parallels and divergences in the leaders' language choices. This study advances knowledge of the rhetorical techniques these leaders use to address global issues.
