THE NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF GRAPES - A VERSATILE SUPER FOOD FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Since ancient times, people have adopted fruit-based diet plans and other regimens to recuperate from various medical conditions. Because grape (Vitis vinifera L.) has antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, it is utilized not only for nutritional purposes but also for certain therapies. Fruits that are not climacteric, grapes are produced on woody vines that are both deciduous and perennial. Polyphenols, which have a wide range of biological activity and health-promoting advantages, are found in large quantities in grapes. One phytoalexin antioxidant that is created when plants are subjected to a variety of biotic and abiotic stressors is resveratrol. The main dietary source of resveratrol in humans is red grapes, including their juices and wine, which also has chemo-preventive and therapeutic effects on a variety of illnesses. As a result, they have profound consequences for human health. Grape has been shown to reduce the severity of diabetic mellitus, cardiovascular issues, and digestive problems. This review elaborates on the health claims of numerous chemical components of grapes and their functional roles, with special reference to antioxidant potential, immune-nutrition, anticancer prospects, and cardiovascular cure.
