Effect of Short-term Exposure to Momentary DC electrical field on Orientation Reflex of Fish
Abstract Galvanotaxis is a reflexive response of animals to DC electrical field. It has already been reported that most fish, being an aquatic organism shows galvanotaxis in response to DC electrical field. However, there is no reported data on responsive nature of fish to an interrupted DC electrical field when combined with some directional senosorimotor stimulus like water flow. In light of this, in the present study the impact of momentary DC electrical field has been studied in a freshwater fish in presence of artificially generated water flow with the help of a specialized apparatus developed in the laboratory.
