Compritive Study Of Maximum Power Point Tracking Techniques Of Pv Systems
Abstract This project mainly focuses on studying maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques for photovoltaic(pv) systems using simulations. MPPT is essential for optimizing solar power generation by ensuring PV panels operate at their maximum power point (MPP), improving efficiency under varying environmental conditions. Two widely used MPPT techniques -perturb & observe (P&O) and incremental conductance(I&C)-are analysed in this study. P&O is a simple and commonly used method that periodically adjusts voltage to find the MPP, while I&C offers improved accuracy by calculating the slope of the power-voltage curve. The simulation evaluates the performance of both techniques in different scenarios, considering factors such as sunlight intensity and temperature variations. The results provide insights into their efficiency, response time and suitability for real world solar applications. This study aims to enhance understanding of MPPT strategies, contributing to better solar energy utilization and system performance.
