DATA LITERACY SKILLS AND DIGITAL RECORDS MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AMONG LIBRARIANS IN UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES, SOUTH-WEST NIGERIA.

The manuscript titled "Data Literacy Skills and Digital Records Management Practices among Librarians in University Libraries, South-West Nigeria" investigates how data literacy competencies influence the efficiency and implementation of Digital Records Management (DRM) practices among librarians. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach with data from 378 librarians across 45 universities, the study finds a statistically significant positive correlation (R = 0.536, p < 0.05) between librarians’ data literacy and their engagement in DRM activities such as record creation, capture, organization, and duplication. Results indicate high levels of data literacy across different proficiency stages and strong participation in DRM processes, though some disparities persist. The study concludes that enhancing data literacy is essential to optimizing records management in university libraries and recommends targeted training and policy support.
