COMMERCIAL VIDEO ADVERTISEMENTS IN DISTANCE LANGUAGE LEARNING – PSYCHOLINGUISTIC FOUNDATIONS AND IMPLICATION
The incorporation of commercial video advertisements as a pedagogical tool in distance language learning offers a novel approach to enhancing second language acquisition (SLA). This paper examines the psycholinguistic mechanisms that underpin the effectiveness of video advertisements in facilitating language learning, with particular focus on their multimodal nature, cognitive engagement, and cultural contextualization. The study provides an analysis of how these advertisements interact with cognitive load, memory retention, and emotional engagement to promote linguistic competence. Practical insights for the selection and implementation of video advertisements in online learning environments are also presented. The findings suggest that commercial video advertisements can significantly contribute to vocabulary development, listening comprehension, and intercultural competence.
