From the Casimir Effect to Space-Entropy: A New Experimental Frontier for Emergent Gravity
Recent proposals of emergent gravity interpret the gravitational force as an entropiceffect by attributing to the entropy gradient in spacetime a role analogousto that of conventional force fields. In this work, we continue this research line byrevisiting and extending the concepts of entropic hysteresis and the mapping t → Sintroduced in our previous studies[4, 5, 6, 7]. In particular, we propose an alternativedescription of the Casimir effect as a phenomenon associated with entropic variationsof the microstates confined between conductive surfaces rather than solelywith quantum vacuum fluctuations. Based on this reinterpretation, we hypothesizethat nanostructured surfaces and metamaterials may modulate the observedforce, thereby paving the way for an experimental test capable of discriminatingbetween canonical mechanisms and entropic hypotheses. Although the theoreticalframework remains speculative and further verifications are required, the resultspresented here outline a pathway toward integrating quantum vacuum physics andinformation thermodynamics within a paradigm in which time itself emerges as anentropic coordinate.
