THE ORGANIZATION AND EVOLUTION OF THE ROMANIAN MILITARY INTELLIGENCE STRUCTURES, DURING THE YEARS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR
After the First World War, the potential of the Romanian intelligence services was greatly strengthened, through the establishment of the intelligence centers of the Romanian Army on Romania’s borders. In 1939, there was a reorganization of the centers and together with that, in the most important urban localities (Iasi, Bucharest and Cluj, and later also in Chisinau) “military statistical offices” were established, with the same mission, of collecting of military information.Romania’s participation in the German-Soviet war determined the establishment of a mobile information center - the “H” Intelligence Center - which accompanied the units of the Romanian Army on the front, with the mission of obtaining and making available to the Romanian troops the data and information necessary for the good deployment of military actions.Since the activity of the information centers on Romania’s borders gave good results, such an organization was also maintained during the first post-war years as well.
