Evaluación de la Distribución de Poisson como Modelo para el Flujo de Clientes en un Local

Abstract: This study analyzes the number of people visiting a food establishment to purchase products every 5 minutes over a period of approximately 26 hours. A total of 304 data points were collected with the aim of modeling customer inflow using a Poisson distribution. In addition to the descriptive analysis of the data, the study explored how the categorical variables of day of the week and time of day affect the distribution. Measures of central tendency and dispersion were calculated, and a confidence interval for the mean was established, confirming its proximity to the expected value. While the data for specific days and times fit well with the Poisson distribution, the overall dataset does not due to the influence of categorical variables and potential errors in continuous data collection. The study also employed contingency tables and Chi-square tests to examine the relationships between variables, concluding that they have a significant impact on customer inflow.
