Climatic higher-order balanced winds beyond geostrophic and gradient wind fields

The input data are based on the 2.5°x2.5° ERA5 monthly mean data on pressure levels (10.24381/cds.6860a573). ERA5 geopotential field is used to estimate monthly winds by utilizing climatic higher-order balanced wind method. The efficacy of the proposed method is tested against the original wind field in ERA5. Python scripts "main_code" and "plot_figures_final" serve to produce spatial plots and boxplot to analyze wind bias.
