How Social Media Can Be Utilized in Education
This article aims to discuss the creative or (non-)utilization of Social Media in education. New technologies have entered our lives dynamically in all sectors. Specifically, on social media platforms such as “Facebook” and “Instagram,” there are dialect-speaking communities where linguistic topics are developed, alongside discussions about the local linguistic varieties, as well as various other folkloric, cultural, and social issues. The views presented in this article are based on my thesis, “Social Media as a Tool for the Dissemination of Linguistic Diversity: The Formation of Ideology on Social Media and Potential Educational Uses.” Initially, I will refer to the significance of geographical varieties in education. Following this, I will highlight the benefits of mass culture and subsequently analyze how social media can be pedagogically leveraged.
