The Mystical Journey from Past and Modern Literature with an Examination of W.B. Yeats's the Second Coming and T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets
This study analyzes the concept of the spiritual trip as it transitions from traditional to contemporary literature, concentrating on W.B. Yeats's The Second Coming and T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets. Both poets address historical crises and spiritual disappointment by employing mysticism to comprehend personal and cultural evolution. Yeats, shaped by esoteric traditions and cyclical history, articulates a prophetic picture of society's disintegration and renewal. Eliot examines time, quiet, and spiritual salvation through Christian mysticism and intellectual contemplation. This analysis of two major works demonstrates how mystical language and structure facilitate transcendence, providing insight into humanity's quest for meaning amongst ambiguity.
