BURNOUT AMONG NURSES IN IMO STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL, (IMSUTH) ORLU, IMO STATE: CAUSES AND ASSOCIATED RISK FACTORS
Burnout is a psychological syndrome characterized by emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion resulting from prolonged stress. It often leads to feelings of detachment, hopelessness, and reduced professional efficacy. This condition is particularly common among healthcare professionals, especially nurses, due to the high-pressure and emotionally demanding nature of their work. The consequences of burnout extend beyond individual well-being, affecting patient care quality, job satisfaction, and healthcare system efficiency. Addressing burnout requires targeted interventions, including workplace support systems, stress management training, and policy reforms to enhance working conditions. This study explores the causes, effects, and potential solutions for burnout among healthcare workers, emphasizing the need for proactive strategies to mitigate its impact
