THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN INTELLIGENT TUTORING SYSTEMS FOR EDUCATION

Abstract Education is a critical aspect of creating a sustainable future, but it faces a number of key challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited resources, and lack of awareness and engagement. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to address these challenges and strengthen sustainable education by increasing access to quality education, creating personalised learning experiences, and supporting data-driven decision-making. One of the outcomes of using AI and information technology (IT) systems in education is the ability to provide students with personalised learning experiences that take into account their unique styles and preferences. In addition, AI systems can provide teachers with data on student performance, emotions, and engagement levels, allowing them to adapt their teaching methods and approaches and provide appropriate assistance or intervention. The integration of AI in ITS represents a significant advancement, enabling systems to analyze vast amounts of data and tailor educational experiences to meet the unique needs and preferences of each learner. Through a comparative analy- sis, this chapter highlights the distinctive features and benefits of ITS compared to traditional learning methods.
