ESTUDIO COMPUTACIONAL DE LAS CONDICIONES DE OPTIMIZACIÓN PARA SISTEMAS DE COMPRESIÓN DE GASES ASOCIADOS A TECNOLOGÍAS P2X Y CCU
This paper explores the optimization of gas compression systems within the context of “Power-to-X” (P2X) technologies. Factors such as pressure, temperature, and system configuration (compression stages and compression ratios) are investigated and how they affect energy consumption during compression of P2X-relevant gases such as CO2, H2, O2, CO and CH4. The study employs the simulation freeware DWSim and the Peng – Robinson equation of state to model and analyze the compression process. A new indicator, the specific compression energy per unit pressure, is proposed to evaluate the efficiency of different compression scenarios. Preliminary findings suggest that operating at higher pressures, lower temperatures, and using multi-stage compression trains can significantly reduce energy consumption. Comparison between different species associated with P2X technologies shows requirements of up to 10 times more energy for hydrogen compression. The above is essential to understand that simple cooling systems, for example those based on cooling water, are valid.
