MODERN ASPECTS OF KIDNEY DAMAGE IN METABOLIC SYNDROME
Metabolic syndrome (MS) negatively affects not only the heart and blood vessels, but also the function of the kidneys, which leads to the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). MS is pathogenetically associated with CKD and is an independent prognostic factor in its development. It is the involvement of the kidneys that often determines the prognosis and quality of life of such patients. This article presents modern views on the concept of MS and CKD, considers its main diagnostic criteria, etiology and pathogenesis. Studying the relationship between MS and CKD makes it possible to determine the high prevalence of renal dysfunction in the general population, mainly by identifying nephropathies of a metabolic nature, including those associated with obesity. It is very important to identify risk factors and unfavorable prognostic markers to increase the chances of early diagnosis of the disease in this category of patients, and their timely elimination is considered one of the main approaches to the comprehensive prevention of kidney disease.
