The Expanding Role of Mathematics in Non-Scientific Domains: Insights from Undergraduate Students in Rural Karnataka: A study with reference to Kumta, Karnataka
Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the perspectives of undergraduate students with regard to the function and significance of mathematics in sectors that are not related to science, particularly in the areas of business and entrepreneurship. The scope of mathematical application has greatly grown during the past two decades to cover fields such as commerce, management, and decision-making. Historically, mathematical application has been connected with the scientific disciplines. Through the use of definitions, postulates, and organised conclusions, mathematics serves as the foundation for critical reasoning across a wide range of fields. Mathematics is both a language and a logical framework. Through the use of both qualitative and quantitative data, which are presented in the form of graphs and charts, this study investigates the attitudes of students as well as the perceived significance of mathematics in professional and academic settings that extend outside the realm of the sciences.
