Spreading Research Data Management at Universities of Applied Sciences: Challenges & Strategies

The poster Spreading Research Data Management (RDM) at Universities of Applied Sciences: Challenges & Strategies presents the project FORTH-BW. This project aims to develop a practical, secure, and researcher-friendly RDM system tailored for researchers and their partner organizations at participating Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS). The project fosters collaboration within the FORTH-BW network in Baden-Württemberg, addressing institution-specific needs and barriers to RDM adoption. Key outcomes include the establishment of standardized core processes alongside institution-specific workflows, supported by handouts, templates, and research data policies. Legal aspects are clarified to ensure compliance and data security, with active stakeholder involvement across UAS institutions. The project addresses the challenges faced by Universities of Applied Sciences in implementing Research Data Management systems. By fostering collaboration, providing practical tools, and promoting a culture shift, the initiative aims to enhance RDM infrastructure at HAWs, supporting high-quality, sustainable, and collaborative research. The poster was presented by Dr. Roxana Lazarescu at the Conference of Fellowship of the Data, Jena, 01-02 April 2025.
