Smart Trash Bin

The management of urban waste has become increasingly challenging due to rapid urbanization and rising waste generation, leading to inefficiencies in traditional waste collection systems. Factors such as overflowing bins, ineffective collection schedules, and environmental concerns contribute to this issue, particularly in high-traffic public areas. Among these factors, inefficient waste monitoring plays a crucial role, as the lack of real-time data results in delayed waste collection and increased operational costs. Therefore, this project focuses on addressing waste management inefficiencies through the development of an IoT-Based Smart Trash Bin. The methodology applied in this system follows a prototype development approach. The system operates by detecting waste fill levels, with color-coded LED indicators (green, yellow, red) providing visual cues, while real-time data is transmitted to waste management teams for optimized collection scheduling. The development of this system contributes to enhancing public hygiene, reducing waste overflow, and optimizing municipal waste management strategies, making urban environments cleaner and more sustainable.
