APPLICATION OF ROBOTICS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN PHYSIOTHERAPY: INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO REHABILITATION

This scientific paper, titled “Application of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Physiotherapy: Innovative Approaches to Rehabilitation,” explores the integration of cutting-edge technologies into physiotherapy practices. The study provides a comprehensive analysis of how robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) enhance rehabilitation processes, improve motor recovery, and optimize therapy outcomes. The research systematically reviews evidence on robotic devices, such as exoskeletons and gait trainers, which enable precise, repetitive movements crucial for neuroplasticity and motor learning. It also evaluates the role of AI in tailoring personalized rehabilitation plans through real-time data analysis, predictive modeling, and feedback systems. Combining robotics and AI results in synergistic benefits, including faster recovery times, reduced therapy costs, and enhanced patient satisfaction. Key challenges are discussed, including the high cost of these technologies, accessibility barriers in low-resource settings, and ethical considerations related to data privacy and algorithmic bias. The paper concludes by proposing future directions for research, emphasizing the development of cost-effective solutions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the need for standardized clinical protocols. With contributions from authors Marko Kimi Milic, Tanja Prodovic, Slobodan Subotic, Tamara Stevanovic, Ivana Radojevic, Scepan Sinanovic, and Vladimir Jestrovic, this paper reflects the collective expertise of the College of Medical Applied Studies “Milutin Milankovic,” Belgrade, Serbia. It aims to provide insights that will guide innovation in physiotherapy, ensuring equitable and sustainable integration of robotics and AI into clinical practice.
