De plantendiversiteit van het historische domein Ter Tommen (Grimbergen; provincie Vlaams-Brabant, België)
The plant diversity of the historical estate Ter Tommen (Grimbergen; province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium). Plant inventories made between 2003 and 2023 in the historical domain Ter Tommen (Grimbergen) yielded 315 taxa, several dozens of which are scarce to (extremely) rare. Overall, 165 herbarium samples were collected and registered in GBIF. A socio-ecological analysis reveals very diverse vegetations, on soils which vary considerably in moisture, acidity and nutrient content, the latter also confirmed by Ellenberg-N-values. The estate also displays a very diverse hydrology and geomorphology; especially the steep slope is exceptionally large for Flanders and harbors a very large population of the rare Polystichum setiferum. Reflecting its history as a castle domain, several formerly planted species are present as well as naturalized neophytes, some of them recorded for the first time from Belgium.
