VALUABLE Chemically produced chitosan
Chitin-glucan was extracted from Aspergillus niger biomass, provided by Jungbunzlauer. The extraction was done chemically, using the process technology for chitin extraction from crustacean shells with adaptions to this specific raw material. Two different fractions were produced: Chitin-glucan from mycelium balls and chitin-glucan from mycelium fibres. Both fractions were converted into chitosan by deacetylation reaction. The results showed, that no deacetylation was possible for the chitin-glucan from mycelium balls and a deacetylation degree of 68% was achieved for chitin-glucan from mycelium fibres
