On the question of the origin of Vsevolod Yaroslavich's first wife
The article is devoted to the origin of the first wife of Prince Vsevolod Yaroslavich of Kiev, son of Yaroslav the Wise. The issue of direct relationship between the Byzantine Emperor Constantine IX and the Kievan Prince Vladimir Monomakh has long been discussed in historiography. Analyzing the complex of Russian and Byzantine sources, the author calls into question the dominant version in historical science that Vladimir Monomakh is the grandson of a childless emperor.
