SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION IN DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF ENERGY-EFFICIENT COMPUTING AND CIRCULAR DESIGN PRACTICES

This article examines the evolution and implementation of sustainable innovations in digital technologies, focusing on the intersection of environmental consciousness and technological advancement. The article explores three key areas: energy-efficient computing solutions with emphasis on Green AI development, the role of edge computing in reducing infrastructure demands, and circular design principles in hardware manufacturing. Through systematic analysis, we investigate how these innovations contribute to reducing environmental impact while maintaining technological progress and economic viability. The article reveals significant potential in combining these approaches to create a more sustainable digital ecosystem, particularly through the integration of energy-efficient algorithms, localized data processing, and recyclable hardware components. The findings indicate that while initial implementation challenges exist, the long-term benefits of sustainable technology innovations extend beyond environmental impact to include operational cost reduction and enhanced resource utilization. This article contributes to the growing body of knowledge on sustainable computing and provides insights for industry stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers working toward environmentally conscious technological development.
