Optimizing CO2 Capture in Wetland Ecosystems
This research investigates the potential of using diatoms and cyanobacteria to enhance CO₂ sequestration in wetland ecosystems. The study models three different scales of implementation—local, regional, and global—using mathematical models and simulations. The findings demonstrate the significant potential of optimizing photosynthesis in wetlands to capture carbon and contribute to climate change mitigation. The article also explores ecological risks, technical challenges, and the socioeconomic implications of scaling this approach, offering practical solutions for long-term sustainability.
