Disaster Recovery Setup for Business Continuity
This paper explores a practical disaster recovery setup for ensuring business continuity, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It begins by introducing the growing importance of disaster recovery in today’s interconnected world, highlighting common challenges like cybersecurity risks, budget constraints, and downtime. The literature survey dives deep into a review of existing strategies highlighting key concepts like Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objective (RPO), and the increasing adoption of automation, cloud-based solutions, and predictive analytics. A detailed methodology outlines the implementation of a locally hosted solution using XAMPP servers, including server configuration, data synchronization, and an automated failover mechanism. The results and discussion showcase the implementation of this dual-phase failover approach, which combines server-side detection with browser-based redirection to ensure seamless transitions during server failures. Finally, future directions are discussed, including the integration of cloud services, predictive failover mechanisms, and enhanced security features, offering a roadmap for building more resilient systems.
