The Coherence-Dark Coherence Framework: A Predictive Model for Galactic Substructure Formation and Evolution
This work iapplies the Coherence-Dark Coherence Framework, for understanding the formation, persistence, and evolution of galactic substructures, including spiral arms, bars, resonance rings, and stellar streams. Traditional models, such as density wave theory, struggle to explain the long-term stability of spiral arms, nested arm substructures, bar oscillations, and periodic star formation clustering. This framework resolves these anomalies by introducing wave-like phasing, dephasing cycles, and nested coherence structures, which drive the self-regulation of galactic morphology over cosmic timescales. This study provides absolute predictions for spiral arm reinforcement cycles (~500 Myr), secondary arm spacing (3.5–5.0 kpc), bar oscillation periodicity (~250 Myr), and coherence-driven star formation clustering, validated against observed anomalies in galaxies such as M51, M101, NGC 1300, and the Milky Way. A detailed observational roadmap outlines how JWST, ALMA, Vera Rubin, and Roman can confirm or refine the model through deep imaging, spectroscopic mapping, and time-domain tracking of galactic evolution. This model represents a new paradigm in astrophysics, offering a quantitative, predictive alternative to classical density wave models and providing a framework for future discoveries in galactic dynamics.
