REPRODUCTION OF SOME REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FAGACEAE FAMILY, COMMON IN THE GUBA REGION, IN THE CONDITIONS OF ABSHERON (AZERBAİJAN)
Representatives of the peanut family (Fagaceae Dumort.) formed in the middle of the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era and had a wide range in the third period of the Cenozoic. Excavated remains were found in Europe, Asia and North America. Finds in the Arctic show that these representatives are much older. Species belonging to the modern pistachio family independently appeared on earth at the end of the Eocene - beginning of the Oligocene. Fossil pistachios in the Caucasus were found in Pliocene deposits of the Cenozoic era in Western Transcaucasia. Representatives of 3 genera belonging to the Pistachio family are widespread in the Caucasus and Azerbaijan: oak (Quercus L.), beech (Fagus L.) and chestnut (Castanea Mill.). In the territory of Guba, representatives of peanuts are widespread and form forest areas. Beech and oak forests occupy a large area in the Guba, Gusar and Devechi districts. To study the issues of introducing pistachios, common in the northeast of the Greater Caucasus, in the conditions of Absheron, their reproduction by seeds in new ecological conditions is of particular importance.
