Beyond Secularism: The Role of Spiritual Philosophy in Public Policy and Governance
In contemporary discourse, the relationship between spirituality and governance is frequently framed in terms of an antagonism between religious beliefs and secular principles. However, this dichotomy overlooks the potential for spiritual philosophies, particularly those derived from Eastern traditions such as Hinduism and Buddhism, to inform and enhance modern governance. This article posits that integrating elements of spiritual philosophy into public policy can not only coexist with secularism but can also foster a more compassionate, sustainable, and community-oriented approach to governance. By examining the ways in which these philosophies can influence policy-making, we can illuminate pathways toward a more holistic and effective governance model.
