TKA: Resurfacing vs non-resurfacing patella
Using different clinical criteria, the decision to perform patella resurfacing in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is generally based on patellofemoral pain, the stage of patellofemoral osteoarthritis, the anatomical characteristics of the patella, and the implants used in TKA. However, there must be a clear consensus on when to perform this procedure. Therefore, this study aims to compare the functional outcomes, complications, and survival of TKA in patients with patellar resurfacing and non-patellar resurfacing techniques; this is a 20-year follow-up in rheumatological pathologies. These documents include part of patients from the "Instituto Nacional de Nutricion Salvador Zubiran", in Mexico City, including a database in Excel format, approval from the hospital's bioethics committee as well as files belonging to the statistical program.
