In vitro anti oxidant and wound healing potential of the poly herbal formulation prepared from traditional herbs
Wound healing is an intricate, dynamic process that relies on a variety of cellular activities that ought to be precisely coordinated to effectively restore incapacitated tissue. Wound-linked abnormal cell behaviors are seen in conditions like diabetes and aging, which delays healing and upshot in the creation of chronic, non-healing wounds. Because of their high occurrence and recurring nature, these wounds impose a tremendous economic cost. Thus, for herbal alternatives to be imposed, there is an urgent need for increased biology and clinical understanding of the mechanisms that drive wound healing. Individual herbs are not enough to produce the intended therapeutic effect, according to Ayurveda. When the mix of numerous herbs is optimised in a certain ratio, it can yield a more beneficial and less hazardous therapeutic impact. The current study is aimed to create a polyherbal medication using an ethanolic extract of the leaves of Senna alata, Hibiscus rosasinensis, Cassia auriculata, Citrus limonum, and Ocimum basilicum in order to generate such an intervention. The study revealed that the extracts were tested individually, and the mixture had a wide array of phytochemicals, which play a crucial role in its antioxidant activity, as tested by various assays. The mixture (Poly herbal formulation) showed around 51 % of wound closure in 48 hours in L929 cell line with a positive effect on collagen – 1 expression compared to the positive control. Thus, the mixture prepared in the study may be a good alternative for safe wound healing.
