Stabilization of Field-Aged Crystalline PV Modules Before STC Power Determination
This study evaluated how field-aged crystalline PV modules can be rated under standard test conditions (STC) and how they can be stabilized before that. The challenge was to compare methods with the standardized method of the IEC standard that promise to function even under the influence of reversible and metastable states or advanced, irreversible degradation. PV modules can show various anomalies due to time, temperature, voltage and light. Stabilization procedures included continuous lighting and electrical power in the dark, as well as stabilization according to IEC 16215 [1]. The research results are part of the ReliaREN-Pro and PROMISE project. One of the main goals of this projects is to achieve international harmonization and potential further development of measurement methods, especially for field-aged crystalline modules.
