Abstract:The present study examines the crucial role of cognitive linguistics, including its references, terminology, related concepts, curricula, and methodologies in the teaching of languages. It explains various areas where the modern cognitive linguistic approach benefits learners by enhancing their linguistic competencies and by informing the design of educational curricula that align with specific goals, syllabi, and assessments. Additionally, it explores the discursive mechanisms employed in classroom settings. The specific adoption of the cognitive approach serves as a more effective alternative to previous methodologies, capable of yielding significant results in language teaching. It acts as a common denominator that intersects with broader concerns impacting other fields such as education, psychology, neuroscience, and computing. This research concludes that cognitive linguistics provides viable alternatives as effective solutions for language teaching that are relevant to contemporary contexts, highlighting the urgent necessity for its implementation.
