CROSSES WITH THE TEXT OF PSALM 67 IN THE PETER THE GREAT MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY AND ETHNOGRAPHY OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (KUNSTKAMERA) COLLECTION FROM THE ARKHANGELSK REGION

The article analyzes inscriptions with the text of Psalm 67 (Prayer to the Holy Cross) on the back of pectoral crosses from the MAE collection No. 7718, received by the museum after the seizure of archaeological monuments from a robber in the Arkhangelsk region. Clarified decodings of the inscriptions on all the crosses are given. The set of inscriptions is typical for the North-West of Russia. It is noted that this inscription is found only on two types of crosses of the collection: the so-called “Old Believer Male`s” and “Female`s/Girl`s”, although in reference archaeological collections the diversity of types is much higher. The studied crosses are grouped according to the features of the placement of the inscription lines. It is noted that the way the text of the Psalm was placed in lines could have a regional connection and reflect the traditions in the work of certain workshops. The analogs from other museum and archaeological collections are given and hypotheses about a possible connection of some series of articles with manufactures of Moscow, Novgorod, and the Ukraine are put forward.
