Abstract

The 41st Problem Conference of Medical Libraries in Szczecin 2024 “Artificial intelligence and medical libraries – are we on the verge of a transformation?” (“Sztuczna inteligencja a biblioteki medyczne – czy jesteśmy u progu transformacji?” XLI Konferencja Problemowa Bibliotek Medycznych) focused on the use of artificial intelligence to optimize established and develop new library services and work processes. In addition to efficiency gains through AI, the potential for innovative teaching and marketing strategies was highlighted, while critical voices warned against unrealistic expectations. The author of the conference report sees structural differences in the comparison between libraries in Poland and in the DACH region, but emphasizes the common challenges that providers of information services face today in order to keep pace with the rapid development in the field of AI.
