Primary school EFL teachers’ digital competence as a factor of teacher development
Due to the Pandemic, the academic community turned to online teaching and learning, revealing teachers’ unreadiness, i.e., lack of digital skills and competences, which impeded digital integration and knowledge acquisition, and thus resulted in stress and lack of confidence. The update of teacher’s methods, strategies, and digital competence is thus of great importance in order to empower learners and support Teacher Development (TD). The study uses a mixed method approach to investigate EFL teachers’ digital competence and consequently, it proposes a hands-on tool responding to teachers’ development needs to be used as teacher training material encouraging experimentation, peer-observation and reflection in TD programmes.
