Bringing data to life – Digital Transformation with the help of the FME Platform
Since the 1990s, FME has been known as an indispensable ETL tool for converting and transforming different geodata in different formats to make them interchangeable and usable by different systems.FME quickly gained global recognition in the field of geoinformatics and continues to accompany many GIS professionals among us to this day. With the integration of more and more data formats and the ability to "operate" different systems and automating data processes between them, FME has become increasingly comprehensive and can nowadays present itself as a complete enterprise data integration platform, with the unfair advantage of also being the world champion in geodata."Budget deficit, economic performance, business location, competitiveness" -these terms are currently on everyone's lips, and Austria is facing a period of change. The COVID crisis acted as a digitalization accelerator and provided an important boost, but it also led to many hasty decisions. The country now finds itself in a "real-digital post-COVID economy," where the focus must shift to a thoughtful, future-oriented understanding of digital transformation. For businesses, this no longer means becoming digital as quickly as possible, but rather carefully considering (1) what digitalization means for their specific company, (2) which measures will generate real added value, and (3) with which technologies and data the continuous process of digital transformation can be successfully implemented. This presentation is intended to show the audience that they have a powerful tool in the FME Platform to support and drive the digital transformation within their organization.Specifically, by breaking down data silos, achieving seamless data exchange through system integration, and ultimately digitizing manual repetitive processes by automating them.Today, the FME platform serves as a comprehensive enterprise data integration platform with the ability to handle any type of data (spatial data, IT systems, applications, real-time data, BIM, databases, and spreadsheets), making it a true all-data platform. In addition, FME is a no-code platform, allowing users to design and automate their processes via a graphical user interface and configuration instead of traditional programming. This ultimately also offers advantages when it comes to maintaining the implemented processes and handing them over to colleagues or successors.
