Novel moss-based cell fusion method for improved long fragment editing in Arabidopsis thaliana

The aim of this study was to explore the potential of Physcomitrella patens as a universal carrier for delivering large DNA fragments, in lieu of yeast. Protoplasts from Physcomitrella patens and Arabidopsis thaliana were extracted and subjected to electrofusion to generate heterologous fusion cells. These cells were then screened and cultured for one month before undergoing genome resequencing analysis. The findings from this study are expected to shed light on the mechanisms underlying cell fusion events.
