Qi as a Semantic Electron Field: A Theoretical Convergence of Chinese Energetics and Field-Based Physics
This interdisciplinary theoretical paper proposes a reconceptualization of the Traditional Chinese concept of Qi as a structured semantic-electromagnetic field. Drawing from quantum field theory, bioelectromagnetics, neurophysiology, and the epistemology of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the study reinterprets Qi not as mystical force but as a biologically embedded, context-sensitive, and rhythmically organized state of informational coherence. Through the integration of empirical concepts such as interoception, EEG/HRV entrainment, geomagnetic resonance (e.g., Schumann frequencies), and fuzzy logic control systems, the paper develops a multi-layered model where Qi operates as a resonance-based semantic field. Human beings are framed as self-regulating biofield interfaces capable of aligning with cosmological rhythms and modulating their own health states via intentional encoding and field coherence. The work culminates in the design of a speculative “Semantic Biofield Interface” (SBI), blending AI-enhanced physiological feedback with intent-guided field adjustment, and explores the philosophical implications of Qi as both subjective perception and measurable field configuration. Rather than treating Qi as a metaphor, this framework suggests it may serve as a frontier concept at the intersection of systems biology, semantic cognition, and cosmological field theory.
