The Psychological and Physiological Effects of Incense Exposure on Human Well-Being

This project seeks to examine the physiological and psychological impacts of incense (Bakhour in the UAE) on human well-being. Incense is known for its calming qualitied and its ability to improve mood; yet, its impact on physiological responses and mood remains poorly studied. This project is going to assess if incense can enhance mood, reduce stress, and impact physiological signs such as heart rate and blood pressure, which signify a relaxing response. This will involve controlled exposure to incense, where volunteers are going to experience short sessions of incense exposure, and their physiological and psychological states will be compared to those in a non- scented, incense-free environment.
