Feasibility analysis of nitrile rubber latex hydrogenation in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide emulsification system
The conversion rate of nitrile rubber(NBR) latex prepared by emulsion polymerization with cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), polyethylene glycol and diisooctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (Disponil GS) as emulsifier respectively were compared, and the feasibility of hydrogenation for latex prepared in CTAB emulsification system was analyzed. The results showed that the conversion rate of NBR latex prepared using cationic emulsifier CTAB was as high as 80.92%, and the polymer particle size was 44.84 nm with good stability; Increa- sing the pH value of polymerization system could significantly improve the conversion rate in the Disponil GS emulsification system. In the CTAB emulsification system, the hydrogenation of NBR latex could be carried out using tri (triphenylphosphine) rhodium chloride (Wilkinson catalyst). When the amount of Wilkinson catalyst was 1.4 phr (by mass), the hydrogenation degree could reach over 95% after polymerization of 5 h.
