HAL: Hallucination as Structural Response: An Empirical Study of AI Decision-Making Under Epistemic Uncertainty

This project investigates the fundamental mechanisms underlying AI hallucination through controlled empirical experiments. Rather than treating hallucinations as random errors, we explore the hypothesis that they represent systematic responses to epistemic uncertainty in large language models (LLMs).

Rather than treating hallucinations as random errors, we explore the hypothesis that they represent systematic responses to epistemic uncertainty in large language models (LLMs).
