Resistance Training During Different Treatment Phases in Patients with Breast Cancer: A Review of Meta-Analysis
This review aims to synthesize and analyze existing meta-analyses that have evaluated the effects of resistance training in patients with breast cancer. A comprehensive literature search will be conducted in PubMed and Web of Science databases to identify relevant meta-analyses. Inclusion criteria will consist of meta-analyses that include primary studies investigating resistance training interventions in individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. The review will provide a variable-by-variable analysis of the effects of resistance training, including outcomes such as muscle strength, physical function, fatigue, body composition, and quality of life, among others. Additionally, special attention will be given to the timing of the interventions, examining how the prescription and effects of resistance training differ depending on whether the intervention was conducted during chemotherapy, after the completion of treatment, or alongside other treatment modalities (e.g., radiotherapy, hormone therapy). This review will offer a comprehensive overview of current evidence and practical insights into optimizing resistance training interventions tailored to the treatment phase of breast cancer patients.
