Process of implementing ambulatory surgery in different contexts: a scoping review.

This scoping review aims to analyze the implementation process of ambulatory surgery in different healthcare contexts, identifying barriers, facilitators, benefits, and challenges. Ambulatory surgery has become a widely adopted model, reducing costs and hospitalization time while improving patient recovery. However, implementation varies across healthcare systems, requiring adaptations to local conditions. Despite existing literature, gaps remain regarding patient safety, quality improvement, and institutional influences. The study follows JBI methodology, with searches in seven databases and grey literature sources. Eligibility criteria include primary and secondary studies across diverse settings. Study selection and data extraction will be conducted independently by multiple reviewers. Results will be synthesized through narrative analysis, tables, and graphs. Findings will provide insights for policy formulation and quality improvement strategies. This review will contribute to optimizing ambulatory surgery implementation globally.
