In-vitro-Untersuchung eines neuartigen Endometriegerätes zur endodontischen Längenbestimmung
The precise determination of the endodontic working length is a crucial factor for the success of root canal treatment. Electronic apex locators have established themselves as a reliable alternative to radiographic length determination, with various devices and methods being evaluated for their accuracy and clinical applicability. The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the precision of the X-Smart Pro apex locator with other established devices and to assess the influence of different irrigation solutions on measurement accuracy. For this purpose, 75 extracted human teeth were divided into five groups, each containing 15 samples. Length measurements were performed under standardized conditions using three different apex locators, with endpoints being cross-checked against radiographic reference measurements. Additionally, the study analyzed whether different irrigation solutions in the root canal affected measurement precision. The results show that the X-Smart Pro demonstrates comparable accuracy in determining the working length to that of established apex locators. Furthermore, no significant influence of the tested irrigation solutions on the accuracy of electronic measurements was observed. This study confirms the high precision of electronic length determination methods and provides valuable insights for the clinical application and further development of these technologies.
