Impact of Physical Activity on the Prevention of Systemic Arterial Hypertension: a Scoping Review
Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) will be considered one of the leading causes of global morbidity and mortality. Regular physical activity is recognized as an effective intervention in preventing hypertension and is recommended by major health guidelines. This project aims to analyze recent literature on the effects of physical activity in preventing SAH, based on studies published between 2019 and 2024, available in the PubMed and SciELO databases. Two independent reviewers will select the studies, and in case of disagreement, a third reviewer will be consulted. It is expected that regular physical exercise will be associated with a significant reduction in the risk of developing hypertension, reinforcing its importance in promoting cardiovascular health. The review will aim to synthesize the main evidence, identify the most effective types and intensities of physical activity, and assess the impact across different age groups and sexes. The knowledge generated may support public policies that encourage regular exercise as a primary measure for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
