NAVIGATING INCLUSIVITY: LGBTQIA+ TOURISM MANAGEMENT STUDENT EXPERIENCES OF CAPIZ STATE UNIVERSITY SIGMA SATELLITE COLLEGE
This study investigates the socio-demographic profiles and lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ Tourism Management students at Capiz State University Sigma Satellite College, shedding light on the unique challenges they encounter and the support systems available to them. Utilizing a convenience sampling method, the findings reveal a predominantly young and diverse student population, with a notable representation of bisexual individuals, particularly among first-year students. While respondents report a mix of positive and negative academic experiences, high average scores reflect a strong appreciation for supportive peers and faculty, alongside calls for enhanced inclusivity in the curriculum. However, pervasive challenges such as discrimination, mental health issues, and a lack of safe spaces persist, indicating a critical need for targeted interventions. The analysis highlights significant variations in experiences based on gender identity, underscoring the necessity for tailored support strategies. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of cultivating a supportive and inclusive educational environment to promote the well-being and academic success of LGBTQIA+ students, resonating with broader regional and global findings on inclusivity in educational settings. Recommendations include strengthening mental health services, implementing robust anti-discrimination policies, and establishing safe spaces to foster equity and acceptance.
