Semantic Collapse Threshold in Quantum Systems
This theoretical paper introduces the concept of the Semantic Collapse Threshold (SCT)—a novel quantum information dynamic that proposes a wavefunction may collapse not only due to external measurement or decoherence, but internally, when the system’s semantic information density surpasses a structural saturation point. This model repositions the collapse event as an information-driven bifurcation, aligning quantum physics with emergent self-organization, cognitive thresholds, and proto-intentionality. SCT opens new possibilities in modeling prebiotic chemistry, quantum cognition, and emergent artificial intelligence through an information-centric ontology of collapse. Simulations, such as simplified quantum cellular automata, suggest that this threshold mechanism could operate in early RNA folding, microtubule dynamics, and neural network behavior. By linking quantum informational self-reference with semantic saturation, this work contributes a foundational framework toward understanding the birth of coherence—the moment when signal becomes meaning.
