INTERVENTIONS PROVIDED BY PHARMACISTS IN THE CARE OF INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER: A SCOPING REVIEW
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a multifactorial neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social cognition and communication, as well as restricted interests and stereotyped behaviors. ASD is a global public health issue that affects 70 million people, causing economic, familial, and social impacts.Among the healthcare professionals working with ASD, the pharmacist is in a strategic position to promote the rational use of medications, provide interventions, and take responsibility for optimizing pharmacotherapy and therapeutic outcomes for these patients, with a focus on identifying, resolving, and preventing pharmacotherapeutic needs. However, there are still gaps in the literature regarding how the interventions provided by pharmacists are offered to children with ASD, making their elucidation necessary.
