Epistemic Aperture and the Glyphic Real: A Thermodynamic Sheaf Theoretic Model of Situated Knowledge
We recast justification as an energy-priced collapse occurring on a poset-stratified synchrony manifold. Knowledge is thus defined as recoverable symbolic collapse: a phase transition whose energetic cost exceeds a fixed threshold and whose residual scar is retrievable (up to gauge transformations) in a non-abelian memory stack. Key contributions include: (i) A No-Free-Cost Meta-theorem demonstrating that a zero-infimum energetic cost cannot halt regress. (ii) A concrete Grothendieck site on a poset-stratified manifold facilitating Čech descent across cognitive modes. (iii) Spectral stability for Hamiltonians perturbed by discontinuous aperture fields. (iv) Worked examples of conceptual trauma modeled via Breen-Deligne 2-cocycles with derived thermodynamic bounds. (v) A complete internal modal logic S4A− with explicit Kripke semantics. (vi) Empirical anchors: Gamma-burst EEG templates and an energy budgeted RNN with finite regress behavior.
